The Porsche has long been a status symbol of sporty luxury. To own and drive a Porsche is for many a sign that they have arrived. Now you can indulge yourself and still be practical with a Porsche Cayenne. Porsche’s large SUV is the ideal vehicle for upscale families and anyone with a discerning taste to drive around New Orleans. When you want your SUV to make a statement, the Porsche Cayenne is the one you will want to own. Filled with luxurious appointments and the latest in technology, the Cayenne will pamper you from the moment you sink into its 8-way power adjustable comfort seats and available 18-way adjustable seats that include steering wheel adjustments and rear view mirror settings. The rear bench is a 40/20/40 split/fold to increase cargo space. Porsche offers child seats for children up to twelve years of age. With eight trim levels, the engine options vary from the 3.6-liter V6 at 300 horsepower to the mighty turbocharged 4-liter V8 that cranks out 570 horsepower. With the Porsche Communication Management infotainment system, you’ll have everything you ever wanted or needed all in one classy vehicle.
The 2017 Cayenne has the latest version of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system to satisfy all of your techno needs. Porsche’s Platinum Special Edition system can now be found in the base model and the SE-Hybrid. The new PCM system features voice activation, navigation, and a seven-inch touchscreen. It also accepts handwritten inputs and real-time traffic information. The available Porsche Connect Plus package allows you to integrate your smartphone with Apple CarPlay.
The refreshed user interface acts much like your smartphone does and responds to touch to access menu items. A new, standard navigation module offers a high-resolution map display that is voice-activated. The Connect Plus is available at extra cost, but includes Google Earth and Street View, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and real-time traffic info.
On the exterior, the hood now has a clamshell shape and the taillights have been modernized. A C-shaped vent on each side door flows along two creases all down the sides between the two wheel wells. The new body style will be 220 pounds lighter, thanks to the VW Group MLB platform it’s built on. Under that newly-shaped hood there may be a four-cylinder hybrid along with the refreshed V6s and V8s.
The Cayenne first rolled off the assembly line as a mid-sized luxury crossover SUV in 2002 but didn’t hit North American shores until 2003. The first Porsche V8 since 1995, it was also the first non-sports car and the first four-door Porsche. The second generation debuted in 2010 at the Geneva Motor Show. The 2014 model received some minor redesigning and a new E-Hybrid version was introduced. A little later, the VR6 and a diesel engine were added to the lineup. There was no 2007 model Cayenne.
The first-gen Cayenne Turbo boasted an acceleration of 0–60 in 5.0 seconds with a top speed of 171 mph. In 2008, the larger 4.8-liter Turbo S engine made 0–60 in 4.7 seconds while turning out 550 horsepower. The first diesel-powered Cayenne came out in February 2009 with a 3.0-liter V6 TDI engine.
Built for the Transsyberia Rally, the Cayenne S Transsyberia was the street version of this rare racing vehicle that came out in 2009 in the limited edition of 600 vehicles. 2013 saw a GTS model outputting 420-horsepower and a 240-horsepower diesel.
